Desigual kicked off fashion week with a sort of European meets 70s South of the equator printage! Desigual known for its great casting choices of flirty fun models with the occasional Victoria's Secret superstar model and various abstract prints that mix and match. This collection acts as a sort of tribute to what happens with inspiration and the designs and styling that goes hand in hand in putting together a collection.
The lastest frontrunner model for this worldly creative collective collection was none other than Behati Prinsloo.
Loved the looks at Desigual, the hair being a sort of afro meets curly sue. One of the looks had pom poms which reminded me of DVF from Spring 2012, when it was a gyspy thing. This collection I believe has a lot of highs. I mean this mix of prints, a fun colorful runway, models with personality that shine through the clothing, and yellow bright suede boots signify to always keep happy.
But I am so shocked that like Liberty of London and Missoni, Desigual has their own newer styles of prints coming out that can be later archived. The romantic, fun and flirty 20 something can flaunt all of her assets in these looks. From the symmetric multicolor bomber jacket to the blue ethereal fitted skirt and zebra mosaic dress, it was all on point.
I also recognize the model on the right hand side, I loved that they casted their catalog and one of their front models in their campaign right into the show! Chantelle Winnie Harlow! Such a beautiful girl.
The collection made Fall and Winter seem like its not that cold outside. The one piece that was so awe worthy was the poncho with the geometric navy blue and burgundy shapes and motifs. I thought the fit is so cozy and cozy seems like the trend to continue through fashion week ever since the last one. The poncho sweater has a nice knit cowl neck and extends to the knees like a tunic, can be long enough to be a dress but me, id pair these with a pair of leather leggings or slim fit cigarette pants with my suede sneakers, ready to wear!
And this last favorite look of mine felt a bit more mature, the print wasnt exactly colorful but it was a respectable regal olive with the diamond quilted cut sleeves. Id like to see the Desigual designers explore some mature looks like these as well for the runway, great things could happen!

Overall, Desigual is always a fun and good time! The models are lively, its like a party with cute clothing and everyone is welcome to live and dress colorfully!
Who was in attendance: Katie Holmes, Drizzy Drake, Nigel Baker and his wife Cristel, DJ extraordinaire Harley Viera Newton (where she assisted in providing the music for this runway bash!) , and previous Desigual guest model and VS staple Adriana Lima!
Doesn't Drizzy look so happy?! |
And finally an ever lasting video of this collection that Monsieur Christian Lacroix and Desigual grace us with:
