#NYFW Review - Pedram Karimi & Rosenthal Tee - Execution in the Details

This unique duo designer show infused differences in terms of each designer's thought process and innovative approach to their styling and craft. This thus created a juxtaposition that was well appreciated. Packed with style influencers and the editor crowd, this show wowed the otherwise steady Sundays that New York Fashion Week is noted for.

Pedram Karimi Backstage by Carlos Escobar
First off was Pedram Karimi - This collection used neutral solid tones that play on the gender-bending ideas of unisexuality in dress. Styles that are notable in Dries van Noten, Rick Owens, and Gareth Pugh style. It featured the raw-ness and focus on shapes and the various cuts in the pieces as a whole. The whole thing just breaks down what fashion is on the silhouettes, textiles, and raw emotion without lifting a finger to add in any print. Everything is like a canvas cut into a certain mold and its up to us to figure how to best envision it. Love how clean this collection was and how much layering potential there is for fall and winter. A+. Showcases that neutral colors and minimalism is not confined to cookie-cutter luxurious silhouettes that only exemplify the textural play but there can be variances.

Here were some of my favorites:

Next was Rosenthal Tee - Who more so showcased a more feminine collection that had undertones of confidence, skillful mastery of cut work, and sultry glamour. From neoprenes to beaded tulle work, this cohesive collection masters the art of texture, embroidered detailing, and knowing what articles of clothing should be detailed and beaded or not. What really won it for me was the skills in the creation of the variations on the idea of a dress. We are talking about Marchesa level detailing but with a more soulful approach and dramaticism like Zac Posen. Within these different pieces, you can see the cultural pot from the silken road in China to a palace in Russia. The modern woman would enjoy any piece out of this, myself included. Need that fine crepe gown with the glitter lace embellished back!

These were my favorites:

All imagery was taken by Carlos Escobar but have been edited by myself.

Thats why I love contrast shows such as these, amazing to compare, contrast, and see the execution in the details and inspirations.
