Crafty: Bottle Art By Ben on Etsy

Every Sunday it becomes like a ritual for me to explore Etsy, from home goods to food and then to crafts! This time around, I felt for cool candles!

I found the store of Bottle Art By Ben, and I feel like its really cool how he makes these. Using repurposed bottles into flavors that do smell and resemble what adorns the actual bottle.

I love this Starbucks one I found, then there is also Coca-Cola and Dr Pepper. I highly suggested you folks to check it out, the price is great and it could be the thing that looks novelty but greatly smelling in your room.

Radar: The New Balenciaga via Accessories

So, now that fashion musical chairs is coming to a head, we now have the first look at the accessories department of Balenciaga now under Vetements Demna Gvesalia, who it seems as finally started the designs for the new look of Balenciaga....

And I gotta say..... I am:

Here is one of the bags: aptly named "Bazar Shopper" in Black and Blue Stripes.
Bazar indeed, this looks like something you would take to a flea market and stuff other goodies you got in it, which is how the idea has been held until now.

The one thing I'll give it, is the use of palladium hardware and its lambskin, so that should make it soft.

I mean I am rooting for Demna because as a relatively new designer, doing shock factor, sarcasm and flash via luxury goods and ready to wear is interesting to see but it can get tacky and boring over time. I loved Nicolas' Balenciaga and overhaul of Louis Vuitton right now.

But I hope Balenciaga does not go through the ringer to find its identity again. We need heritage, profitability, and design innovation. I understand its hard as one has to be compromised sometimes in the business of fashion but I am sure there can be a delicate balance. I just hope Balenciaga does not become as messy as Dior has been and what Lanvin is going through now.

So far, its blah but it could get better. Could be the next Gucci under Michele or Louis Vuitton under Ghesquiere. (We still have yet to see Simons' Calvin Klein, which I have mixed emotions on but it could be a definitive collection under a new CD that it needs)

Once again fashion proves correct in using innovation based off old designs as a sort of inspiration while some just outright copy. This seems reminiscent of Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton bag lady chic shoppers, remember those monstrosities?

Radar & Out Now: Prabal Gurung x Toms Collaboration for Nepal!

I am so glad to see this little bit 'o fashion news, this one flew under the radar! Prabal Gurung for Tom's. Two nice initiatives make a play in the contributions and for those who love Prabal's pattern drama this is the mini collection for you.

1. For every pair of TOMS x Prabal Gurung shoes purchased, TOMS will donate $5 to the Shikshya Foundation Nepal in support of education for underprivileged children and, more recently, helping aid relief efforts in Nepal.

2. As per usual, every pair bought, an impoverished child will receive a pair of good shoes to wear.

I love this because Prabal has been such an advocate for his home country and helping rebuild after how devastating that earthquake was in 2015 because he grew up there and not to mention, the everlasting damage and continuous rebuilding efforts going on even today.

And at $59, you cannot go wrong with these. I love the design and will get one myself.

These are the red fair isle style in the classic flat sneakers.

(The only thing I dont care for in the collection is the nepal mukluk boots. They seem too simplistic and like every other winter boot for me. Those who may decide between another boots and that, maybe pick this because of the donation element otherwise, skip and get the sneakers or flats!)

Article Story: J. Crew Rhodes Blazer-a-plenty Options!

Figured I would have some fun with this and do some combinations of 1 blazer, done 3 different ways with diverse accessory styling. The article of clothing in discussion: the J. Crew Rhodes Blazer in Navy/Black.

First Way:

The Rhodes Blazer with a J. Crew Long sleeve horizontal stripe shirt,
Free People Cropped Distressed Denim,
Lanvin Python Toe Sneakers
& Proenza Schouler Tweed Medium PS1.

Outfits Details:

A great way to keep prim and proper with some colorful finishes and still feel comfortable and not uptight. Polished yet casual with jeans and some good accessories.

Second Way:

Same blazer with the same top but adding in:
Coach Mini Bennett Crossbody in Floral Burgundy
& Tods Light Brown Loafers

Outfit Details:

Keeping the same blazer, top, and denim, this is another way to have a whole new look with a change of accessories. Keeping in tune with my prim and quirky theme, you can add even more polish with a good pair of leather loafers. That and keeping one piece fun, like this Coach Floral Mini Bennett, does a good job of that. This can be an evening outfit or mid-day, "Just going out for a sec" look.

Finally.....

Third Way:

Same blazer, Gap Denim Tencel Button Down Shirt, Same Denim by Free People,
& Gucci Horsebit Loafers (An older style)

Outfit Details:

Keeping some of the same items, I included a pair of classic Gucci loafers and showcased a denim on denim look that is not rigged (used light washes with some distressing to them and worn in displays). First time experimenting with denim on denim and it was a nice success with a blazer, as without it, I doubt it. The loafer brings in a nice polish and with the blazer, its not a stuffy outfit and you can wear this anywhere!

All of this was in my closet and I only added in the Rhodes Blazer from my adventure at J. Crew yesterday.  Adding in that one statement or one classic and anchoring piece to mix with other items you may have and you can get new and successful looks without breaking your wallet.

Not a bad way to get everything worn and in a good cycle, you can go through the closet and truly see what you want to keep and what does not work no matter what (that can be donated).

Being cinematic about getting her yesterday on Snapchat. (LOL)

P.S. - I might make article story a new feature for the site, I did things like this before in the past and never followed through but this time, I just might.

Just In: J. Crew Rhodes Blazer

Having a wonderful shopping experience at the J. Crew Soho store on Prince Street, I went in looking for exactly what I need, with little to no detours. Of course, I did my research online and went in to try the different types but I realized the sizing is limited at that store, which usually does not happen to me at the other J. Crew I love uptown at Columbus Circle and the Outlets.

I needed a blazer to add to my repetoire for my upcoming law school entrance and the professional events and meetings that will happen. I figured between the Regent (good collar and lapel work) and Rhodes blazer, I would have something that isnt 100% suiting so I dont seem like a stiff suit but something fashionable, business casual, and I could still wear it casual on my off days.

In that respect, the Rhodes Blazer won.

I loved the buttons, the material, the tailored look, availability of pockets. Not to mention the exceptional service I received in making my design. And then the follow through with having a garment bag and hanger for it. Now thats ponyboy GOLD.

Bag Love: FURLA Dreams

Have been a long time fan of Furla, this great Italian company makes gorgeous solid bags that stand the test of time, whether you want a satchel or a crossbody. From soft calf to saffiano leather. Recently I reignited my love for Furla when I was in Florida and in need of a new everyday, no fuss bag. Furla's tiny crossbody was it. Room for cards, cash, purse, perfume, hand cream, keys, tissue, and your eyeshadow palette.

But I do love their other bags that they have streamlined to the top of the most wanted bags, that they do have on their website. Its the form of aesthetic, innovation, availability of different textures and colors that makes me want to get another!

These are my other favorites so far (As for Furla, like Coach they really rose back into prominence once again) and take a notice, how I picked three distinct bag shapes because there is really no excuse why not FURLA?

This maybe the NYC girl in me that might say its a betrayal if I dont get it in black but why not a good shade of pink, like a hot salmon that its a cute hue.
I love the texture of this one and the crossbody aspect has me sold.

One of the most ubiquitous designs right now but I just love the leather textures, the nice tie in the front and cute larger shape, and its not necessarily rigid like other ones.

Covetable: Liberty of London Marlborough Totes

Taking a gander at the availability of totes of right now, I came across my favorite, Liberty of London, that makes amazing print worthy goodies from home to fashion accessories. I never realized they made a set of totes, some printed and some limited edition prints!

Introducing their Marlborough style print totes. Available at Neimans. I love how there are different colors and sizes. Plus the price range is mid-line, modest. Its coated canvas with soft calf leather. A great bag for traveling (get that airport celeb fashion down pat), running errands, going to work or school with it!

This is one to obtain and then obsess all over again. Already looking into mine!

Loafer Gang: Chanel!

As we all know, the loafer is a classic style that has been a staple in mens fashion and also in women's fashion, like the menswear inspired and streamline styles since Yves Saint Laurent.

The resurgence of the #LoaferGang has new life breathed into it since Gucci helped to steamroll the trend starting back in late 2014, therefore making the classic loafer into different textures and styles. With this renewed interest, other designers felt inspired and rolled out their own forms of loafers.

I dont believe the loafer is an instantaneous trend that is not worth it, it has been and always will be a gorgeous and iconic part of footwear that can easily be as casual as you want or as dressy and sophisticated as can be.

I myself own about 5 loafers and they are simply amazing for work or if I have events to attend they bring the right amount of prim to the proper.

Case and point, these Chanel loafers are my absolute favorite. The style and leather being so soft and dainty has withstood the test of time.

But yes there are many different types of loafers one could invest in. There are these classic chanels with clean lines and smooth leather.

Then the horsebit logo ones by Gucci that are timeless, the new princetown ones with the fur (avoid the absolute fur ones because those are a nice piece to see on the runway but in real life, its neither practical nor cute).

These can be worn in any cute style, I mean case and point. I love a good airport style. A good wool trench coat, a basic pair of skinny jeans and a neutral colored t-shirt with those Gucci fur princetown loafer/mules and they are a hit!

Yes, you may say the fur bit is a bit trendy but I dont see it going away anytime soon. The loafer in general is here to stay and has been an outfit staple for years.

Trip Goods: From Tiffanys to J.Crew

So I enjoyed the trip to Atlantic City, at the Jersey Shore! Various snaps, pictures, and pina coladas later, I realized how much I missed this place. Havent seen in 2 years and heard and read so much news about properties closing and the status of Atlantic City as a destination surf town.

But alas, I went to the Playground Pier, that was once called the Pier at Caesars, and my oh my it has changed. Stopped into Tiffanys, and its my first piece in a long time. My own little congratulatory gift for getting into Law School.

Love the wrapping and customer service every time. I had this in mind since this piece was in my bookmark folder for a while and decided to check it out and deliberate if I should get it or not. Nothing gaudy but elegant for everyday wear.

Presenting: The Tiffany Notes Alphabet Disc Charm Pendant with the "J" initial on an 18" thicker chain. Had the option of thinner or this one for $10 bucks more. I figured the thin one could get broken more easily or knotted, and knowing myself, the thicker chain works. I wanted the K initial but they were sold out so I went with my middle name. Associate told me I could get the K and the initial for my last name and do a charm necklace with my first, middle, and last initials. DAT I LIKE!!

I have not bought Coach in a long time, not since Krakoff was CD. But I couldnt help myself when I saw this cute small top handle crossbody. The Coach Mini Bennett in Burgundy Floral. I love the new direction Coach is going in!

Then stopped into J. Crew after the short walk from Coach and picked up this sweater. I love a good novelty sweater and J. Crew does it for me. The quirky and practicality mix gets me every time. So when I saw this golden foil Zebra designed crew sweatshirt, that is soft to the touch, I had to bite.

Not to mention, I got free shipping for another sweater they had on sale but didnt have in stock. I believe it was called the Caryn. The cute cardigan with the seahorse on the breast area. :D

Got these major vibes, Nike Flyknits. I dont know how long I have wanted the flyknits but finally got them on a good sale. $59 from $120. :) Now whose a happy camper.
