Inspirations: Working from Home

Everyone knows that besides having to work at an office or at school, one essentially works from home in terms of the regular 9-5 work that carries over into home time. And of course, we have those who work directly from home or need a space to work from. I was looking at some Pinterest decor and design inspirations and came across Wework.com. They're a co-working company that offers beautiful shared office space all over the world.

The idea that if you need a place to work from, especially if you need a place for your team that is affordable, neat, can be customized to rent for your standards, there is a space you can grow from. I know here in NYC, space is minute and every costs money, its great to have a place you can use and decorate and allows for flexibility, which is crucial! Its the pied-a-terre without paying such a high rent!

But for me, how I'd customize that space and my own home office is incorporating my own design aesthetics from my own interests and pins that represent what I love and aesthetically admire.

Of course, my desk is messy but clearing it up and making it over into something I love is a work in progress! But here is what I want to infuse together so far:

I love a mixture of modern, quirky, chinoserie, minimalist, morcorran, ethnic, blossoming, and comfy regal looks. Just how to achieve this blend, the next few months stay tuned. :)

Fancy - Shopping Public School SS '16 Early

Class is in session! Runway looks were supposed to appear in stores six months after the show - until now. Public School, the cutting-edge New York City-based design house, is once again pushing the envelope, making items available for purchase just days after their Spring 2016 Show.

Its like a cross between sporty-chic and migration.

The Public School Miashi Sandal is a platform sandal with ribbon wrap detailing —a feature played out during Public School's SS16 show with bohemian minimalistic chic styles.
The shoes are yours for $495, thanks to an exclusive partnership between the designers and Fancy.com, the addictive social shopping app backed by Carlos Slim Domit and Francois-Henri Pinault. Fancy says that more Public School products are expected to come in by the end of the week, so keep an eye out.

"Fancy is an innovative shopping destination and we wanted to see these shoes on there right away," said Dao-Yi Chow, co-founder of Public School.

"We are big fans of Public School and have enjoyed watching their evolution into what has become one of the best brands in the world" said Joe Einhorn, Fancy's CEO and founder.

Public School is such an amazing relatively new brand, being sold at Barneys and what not! Not to mention how they had that amazing collaboration with J.Crew and both Maxwell & Dao-Yi are creative directors of DKNY now, after Donna Karen herself stepped down. Exciting things are happening and these shoes are amazing, talk about minimalist, voyage style sandals!

Gap Denim Love

Gap Denim Love

Gap jeans

Gap jeans

Out of all of the denim I have from brands like Citizens of Humanity, Rag & Bone, Lucky Brand, Gap, Free People, and Levi's, I love all of them but Gap is my usual staple. The various cuts, washes, lengths, and the rare selvedge types when they come along, they definitely swoon my heart.

My next future set of denim, which I would recommend to anyone to give a try, because they can be worn in any style and are comfortable are these:

1969 Resolution Moto Pull-On Legging Jeans

1969 Lunar Selvedge Girlfriend Denim

1969 Resolution Dark Indigo Skinny Jeans

I mean not only do they complement my beautiful going-out afternoon/evening wear but they are morning appropriate with an easy tee or linen sweater to keep it casual and day-appropriate.

#NYFW - Son Jung Wan SS '16 Glimmering Metallics

Son Jung Wan showcased a beautiful collection this season, keeping in theme with her excellent cut and sew work, as well as asymmetrical plays on bolero style tops, metallic dresses, and high necks. The collection was so ultra feminine and chic, it felt every ethereal  in terms of hair and makeup (with that glittery lip) as the models looked like beautiful creatures gracing us with their presence.

Inspired by Korea’s Jeju Island, an Aquarian treasure, the designer fluently translates the gentle beauty of nature through this classically elegant collection.

They floated down the runway in beautiful pastel hues of lilac and blush interspersed with deep turquoise reminiscent of the sea, metallic’s sequin and alabaster whites.

Here are my pictures at some good angles to see the movement:

And of course, here are some high resolution photos with straight-on interest, taken by: Rodin Banica :)

SJW is one of a kind. And of course, at show was Kelly Rutherford, always a staple there! Always one of my favorite shows at NY Fashion Week.

#NYFW Day 1 - Desigual Fun in the Punk Sun!

Once again, Desigual showed a solid and fun collection of what fashion and capturing the spirit of various women are, not only by personality and era but also by city!

Women, like the many cities we travel to and live in, are ever-changing and endlessly alluring; gleaming in the morning and glowing in the evening. Inspired by the city of Barcelona, BCN, La Ciudad Condal, the charming Mediterranean port town that’s always been home for DESIGUAL, this collection encapsulates the many styles of a women.

The brand collaborated with stylist Misha Janette, who used her eclectic style to showcase the daring, fearless, and irreverent woman according to DESIGUAL. Lauro Samblas’, an artist from Barcelona, used colorful pop-inspired collages tapping into his boundless creative freedom to create the backdrop for the collection.

I felt like it was a mediterranean Spanish meets American walking canvas of organic prints, shapes, and lines. I mean shirts worn as skirts, various punk like looks, collageful prints that envelop in front of our eyes. Not to mention the availability of wearable art in terms of casual or NYC going out looks, amazing!

These are some of my favorite looks! Especially that denim with the white paint pattern! I smell a DIY.

I mean this show was so much fun that there was two models that were walking down the runway with selfie sticks! Boy would I love to have that video they took! I mean its collections like these that help breath life into fashion and how one can find fun, personal style, develop one's own motif and style from what they see and are inspired by. We cant be minimalist-chic all of the time.

I salute the designers and stylists of this SS '16 season to the highest honor, thank you!

And of course, if you wanted a closer look, here are some images backstage.

Its all in the details:

#NYFW Day 1 - Nicholas K SS '16 Flow

Nicholas K always delivers an amazing awe-worthy show filled with layering and loose silhouettes. This season is no different, it was giving desert warrior vibes with Joan of Arc esque worthy looks. I loved the ombre mix ins and the focus on neutral colors like cream, white, light browns, off white, grey, and black.

This collection also served as a fresh drink of water in a desert where for example, I love fashion and I need a loose poncho for traveling and protection from the sandstorms.

Also what is great is the flowing feeling to the collection as a whole, its collections like these that make me celebrate layering and always wanting to try something new. Also I must add the accessories are what make it good too, like the silk rope crossbody belt and the leather grey ombre triple strand belt.

I love how this collection can serve a light mood as well as a deep mood in cotton, suedes, and linens.

#NYFW Day 1 - BCBG: Beachy Peachy

BCBGMaxAzria showed earlier today at New York Fashion Week, which has of course been transitioned from Lincoln Center to the Skylight at Moynihan Station, a bit more convenient for travel in terms of being located on the lower end of midtown near the plethora of transit hub and editor offices but taxi and car service may run into traffic!

Any who I digress, this spring/summer season is very nice to see something exciting for those long summer months and the spring where you just dont know what to wear! Whether its hot or a bit chilly and rainy, there is a good range that this new BCBG collection presents.

This season they explored the beach life with knits, fresh prints, fresh styling, and new ways to do old silhouettes that always come up during the summer. Not only was bucket hats the norm but the mounds of layering, the 70s beach vibe near Huntington Beach, and tie dye which reminds me of the vibrant printage that inspired some of Proenza Schouler back in 2011/2012.

Some of it was a bit haphazard but its fun to see them play around with the different pieces to evoke an emotion as "WOW" as you see it come down the catwalk. I mean the ikat, patchwork, and baja patternwork, all of it is gold.

Here are some of my favorites:

TBT: Throwback Tuesday to Ann Demeulemeester

I remember around 2008-2010, Ann Demeulemeester was the shoes to covet, Acne Studios sweaters and wedges were the norm, and Rick Owens drapery is gold. Well most of these are still the case, as I still covet them. I mean all of the trends come and go, but these designers for sure stick to what they know and are good at.

I mean look at Ann Demeulemeester and Rick Owens, the brand has that androgyny, layered, edgy, and eclectic look that can be clean cut when you need it to be. Their identities have been forth-right and always stable and in demand. I mean Barneys and other retailers like Net-A-Porter will always have them in stock.

And of course, Acne is always popular for whats in trend but they have an identity as well for pieces themselves that are covetable and always well made for anytime and can be well worn during any trend that is happening.

But I do love, these classic Ann Demeulemeester boots, the triple lace and open toe lace up sandals from Spring 2009.

Glow like the Green Lantern!

As summer is giving us a final hurrah with its ever shinning rays that just run right through you. It leaves you tired and I understand the need to feel energized. I was looking over at Aloha.com, where they were having fun discussions about recipes and different ways to use healthy supplements and products. They are the company who makes those delicious looking greens packets, vegan protein packets, and Goji + Pumpkin seed trail mix. I decided in this post to join in on the fun and share my best tips on getting the ultimate summer glow!
Image via: HD wallpapers
As you know summer, is humid, arid, hot, windy, free radicals swim around, the sea salt from the beach days play havoc on your hair and skin at times, and you feel this overall sense of fun but exhausted. For my summer, I basically focus on the 3 hot zones:  Hair , Skin, and Inner nourishment.

For my hair, the two ultimate nourishing items to have are : Coconut Oil and Avocado! Either of them you can apply topically, which I do, but sometimes I love eating or drinking them both as well! Ultimate nourishment in terms of awakening dehydrated hair strands, scalp, and unlocking that necessary glow and shine!

With Coconut Oil, I love to use the Monoi Coconut Oil Deep Conditioning Mask and Rejuvenating Spray by Organic RS.

Not only do they have a fantastic smell but gives the hair the necessary nutrients it needs! As for Avocado, You can apply it as a mask or eat it! Which is the best part~! I tend to eat my avocado in a salad. One of my favorite recipes that I made up is below!

Kaye's Colorful Summer Salad
- 1 to 2 cups of Romaine Lettuce
- 1/2 to 1 cup of Radicchio Leaves
- Sprinkle in some cut figs
- 1/4 cup of cut and cooked okra
- 1/2 cut of whole avocado
- Cut in halves, about 8 plum small tomatoes
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup of garbanzo/ chick peas
- Sprinkle in some mix of vinegar, ginger glaze, and mango chutney
- Optional one can add in chicken or any sort of meat

Another good salad recipe is on the Aloha website, cucumber and avocado, which is ultra hydrating! See it here. Also you can check out their healthy recipes here!

Now moving onto the skin, some products I love are: again Coconut Oil, Biotin, and my Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital SPF 30 Sun Lotion.

For Coconut Oil, I love the 100% MCT energy giving and supple liquid one by Vitamin Shoppe.  Its non GMO, from their organic plant line, cold pressed without lauric acid to make it liquid and it is very consistent without fillers like other products. You can use it to cook with as well, so win win situation.

For Biotin, its one of the B-Vitamins that is water soluble so it doesn't stay in the body to be stored like the fat soluble ADEK vitamins, but I love what it does with collagen, horsetail extract and silica for healthy hair, skin, and nails. Keeping them from being brittle, being deficient, and getting that nutrition it needs. You can get them from any brand! in any amount of mcg but be careful not to use too much, in terms of high toxicity levels, as too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

And of course it cannot be summer without a skin protectant, which is why I love my Lancome Bienfait SPF 30 Lotion. Lancome always does their research and it creates such a good barrier for my skin and goes on smoothly, without melting in the hot skin or feeling too sticky. It protects and nourishes for me!

Last but not least on the summer essentials list, is the most important of all, inner nourishment. Some of my favorites above that as you can see works from the inside as well as from the outside. Other great inner nourishment in terms of supplements and vitamins and superfoods are: Greens, Probiotics, Multi-Vitamins and Goji Berries!

In terms of greens, its great to mix your own or go with a blend that has so much to offer in terms of different greens, superfoods, fruits, and photosynthetic types like Alfafa, Kelp, Broken Cell Wall Chlorella and etc. It helps to reenergize the body, help build and protect cellular damage and neutralize free radicals. So many benefits to greens. My favorite greens to use is by Amazing Superfoods, the Lemon Lime Energy Blend. Gives natural plant energy with all of the added benefits.

Not only are probiotics great for replenishing good bacteria in the gut and intestines, they are great when you are taking antibiotics and need immune system support! My favorite is by Garden of Life, the Fitbiotic packets. But probiotics come in many forms, refrigerated and shelf stable types, the best types are 6 strains or more of both Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus. With the fall coming up and the change in season, allergies and seasonal support are going to be necessary.

Multivitamin, a great way to get it from elemental synthetic forms without fillers and from whole food sources that are more bioavailable to the body! A great way to make up vitamins, minerals, and other enzymes necessary for system catalysts and maintenance. If your diet lacks or you feel like you are not getting enough, its a sure fire way to get in those necessary and essential nutrients! Can get them in powder, capsules, gummies and liquid, so there is no excuse!

Lastly, one of my favorites, Goji Berries, one of the most studied superfoods out there right now and also put with many other superfoods into formulas for consumption! Like cacao, maca, etc. It tastes really good and it is so nutrient dense, native to Mongolia, that it contains all of the amino acids necessary for body processes, have 21 trace minerals, highest protein out of any of the other fruits, and are high in fiber! The one Ive tried in the past and is still my favorite is the Aloha Trail Mix itself. With other nuts and seeds, it is energizing and delicious!

Last but not least, drinking water can also be added as a healthy glow essential for the summer and as we descend into the final days of summer which is filled with a plethora of heat waves to remind us of how hot summer can be!

Stay cool and stay glowing!
