Gemma in Full Swing

Lets all revel in the fact that since Gemma Ward came back in that Prada Spring 2015 Show, she is back on top and is always my favorite Dolly girl, the one who started it all. Just recently she covered the December 2014 Vogue Australia Issue.

I gotta say she does not age much, but her face is even more filled out, a bit mature, and it suits her transition into being a sort of Icon like the supermodels of the past era.

Happy New Years Indeed! Cant wait to see more of Gemma next year!

Retrospect: Remembering Atlantic City

I am speaking of Atlantic City in past and present terms for this piece. I put together a progressive collage, from my June 2014 trip back when Revel AC and Showboat was open. Little did I know those would be the last moments Id spend at them before they would close months later.

Got to experience the Revel on the Boardwalk, Vegas style dinning, playing, shows, and spectacular amenities. Not to mention enjoying Showboat has I have been vacationing with family there for a span of a decade. The House of Blues, so many legends have performed and visited there. Not to mention, the Mardi Gras theme and fun events to always enjoy! So sad to see all these properties close, including the impending bankruptcy behind the Trump Taj Mahal as well.

I do believe Atlantic City can be saved, 100% Casinos opening all over the place that was impending and we cannot change that but what one can take advantage of is renewing interest for families, married couples, and youngsters in their 20s who want to party. Take advantage of the seaside resort its famous for and build up the city! Everyone living below the poverty line should be helped out by: rebuilding infrastructures, implementing safer policing policies, more community and resident programs, opening schools, and better choices of availability of stores and after school programs for natives.

Remember when Las Vegas was a dump? Now its prolific for everything. Atlantic City could be the hot ticket again, just need investors, time, and initiatives.

Gucci Rumors: Whats the Next Step

The rumor mill has been running rampant since Frida Giannini left (or was removed) from the Creative Director position at Gucci. It is speculated that Joseph Altuzarra, American Designer and Hedi Slimane of Saint Laurent (YSL) are the front runners for the position, but it would be nice personally to see someone in house who knows the aesthetics already to continue and make a name for themself but even with that in mind, its always fun to speculate who could fit in that position.

An Italian Designer themself, yes?

Hedi Slimane (Well because since he would lead YSL and Gucci like Tom Ford did year ago, I suspect this would be a big publicity stunt yet be an interesting and obvious choice)

Joseph Altuzarra (Epitome of Sleek, Sexy, and interesting silhouettes, plus a little Tom Ford inspiration you see there)

Some have been talking about Haider Ackermann (Namesake), Anthony Vaccarello (Versus Versace), and Oliver Theyskens (Theory/ Nina Ricci).

All fascinating choices and you could see them at Gucci but what else could be missing? Lets speculate lol

Fitness: Holiday Workouts

So we have all officially celebrated the big day and are continuing the winter holiday season with other faiths, but we have all eaten more than we should or probably indulged a bit too heavily! I know I am not alone on this. For those that are getting into the fitness game, or are continuing like me but like a little variety, here are some recently released youtube workouts by Power Trainers Tony Horton, Shaun T, and Tracy Anderson. There are other suggested videos by the same trainers or similar to that certain style of workout.

Tony Horton's New Holiday Workout!

Shaun T New Shoulders and Biceps Workout!

Tracy Anderson Arms Webisode Workout!

Currently I am doing the newly released Insanity Max 30, so if you have checked out my twitter and instagram, I have been blabbering on about maxing out every chance I get. Its all about accountability and getting through the next two months of this tabata style workout. So far, I am in week 2 and it doesn't get any easier and I love it :)

Remember, New Years is coming up, starting your fitness and healthy lifestyle journey is only the first step but continuity and accountability to keep it going is key.

Coach Party: Bonnie Cashin

Featuring one of my favorite new pieces straight from the thrift store, a limited edition special edition Bonnie Cashin Dolly Collection Classic Tote. Its a very high meets low end aesthetic that Bonnie was known for.

Bonnie Cashin was one of the special Coach founding designers. The prolific Creative Director was known for diffusion lines of high and low end price points, leather in high end luxury, layering style, and was a pioneer for early ready to wear fashion. Basically, she helped evolve the shape of design and fashion today.

I mean look at that turnlock signature pocket so abstractly on the front. Also the navy blue fabric and pink leather trims throughout! Not to mention, the print and dolly sketch girl on the front. Reminiscent of a 1920s glamour girl that I've seen Henri Bendel do a modern and classic version of.

Overall a favorite in my bag collection now :)

Instagram Pics: From Seurat to Lanvin

This was too good not to share, some instapics from last week. To me the angles, tones, and content in themselves are groundbreaking.

Sometimes you just need a moment of tea. And my Starbucks Cup and Saucer set feels like you are in a cafe setting right at home.

On the topic of drinks, finally gave that BluePrint Cleanse Lemonade Cleanse drink a try! Its so amazing, my next one will be that pineapple, apple and mint.

When I went to the Met Museum, love photos from this angle and from the side. Gives more height to the building and gives it this "passing imposing glance"that you just have to view.

One of my favorite outfits to date, comfy, fun, and especially warm. Wore this to the museum. Of course little sock monkey came along for the ride.

Cool Sophistication

I hardly ever get to wear this jacket out much but when I do, I always love something simple yet classic to wear with it but not too showy since the highlight/ focal point of it is the quilted leather sleeves. Which is why I added the striped sweater, the right amount of slouch and the grey tones are very fall appropriate. Mixed in is my Gap Skinny Mini Cargo Pants with the ankle side zip, so basically this whole outfit I am ZIPPING lol.

Lastly, put on with a nice charcoal grey colored sneakers, I love how its not canvas or the usual leather converses. Its unique! I am fan of mixing different pieces and adding in menswear inspiration whenever I can.

Pants: Gap
Sweater: Sisley

NYC Sights

When you live somewhere, you are so caught up in going to work, school, and then going home, perusing about on the computer and television, that you do not take the time to appreciate the sights and maybe just maybe, go into Tourist adorned Times Square.
This was a countdown banner sponsored by the Times Square Marriott Marquis, I havent gone back since to see what it was about.
Central Park South Horse Drawn Carriages, havent rode in one since I was 6. I know there is an ongoing debate out it for years in terms of animal treatment, taxation on the business, etc. I just hope they do not forget the tourist spirit and attraction it has.

I mean the magnitude of New York City energy or the epicenter of arts, entertainment, and its spirit lies within its heart which is midtown, specifically Times Square. I have not been to Times Square in 4 years but I gotta say, having a nice day trip to the Met Museum (Which I have never been to) and then passing by the Manhattan Hotel by Tkts booth.
The outside of the Met Museum, its so beautiful especially with all of the pigeons on the steps. Many a times in Gossip Girl Manhattan, this is the scene for the show with the power struggles between Blair, Serena and Jenny.

Here is a couple of my favorite shots. The big staircase leading to the second floor, the anticipation you feel going up to see thousands and thousands of years of art history, culture, and civilization. I have a couple of snapshots like a Seurat painting, which will be in my instagram posted, since I gramed it out, but I especially loved this Edgar Degas Dance Class Sketch from the 19th century. Degas extremely knew how to create the balance between classic and modern, perceived and reality, the lie that is the truth. He captured the classic ballet dance forms on these working class originated girls, though his access to them and being in classes is always questionable. Was it appropriate because he was an avid show goer or did he admire them, did he find solace in them? Or was it an obsession that became too real, an older man among younger women?

Many things can be speculated but if you look into his history and the paintings, you can see the draw lines and brush strokes, exactly how he created it and the intention.

Overall, we need time to stop and observe whats around us in the city. It is the melting pot of culture, the plethora of many different life circumstances, and how we all work, play, and eat in this densely populated city.
